New Online Banking Password Security Enhancement


At Bank of Washington, we are committed to keeping your personal financial information as secure as possible by bringing an even stronger safeguard to your Online Banking account. You are one simple step away from a more secure login. With this new security enhancement, you will be prompted to create a new password with new requirements. Beginning November 1, 2012, passwords will need to contain:

  • 8 12 characters
  • At least 1 uppercase letter
  • At least 1 lowercase letter
  • At least 1 number
Please note, your new password for Personal Online Banking will also be used for Personal Mobile Banking. If you are a business customer with Online Banking using Business Mobile Banking, you will still use your one-time password for Mobile Banking.

It is easy to change your password in Online Banking:
  1. LOG ON to Online Banking
  2. Click OPTIONS
  3. Find the PASSWORD box
  4. Click EDIT
  5. Enter your current password, and enter your new password
  6. Click SUBMIT

If you do not change your password by November 1, you will be prompted to do so when you login to Online Banking. We are pleased to deliver this security upgrade to make it even safer for you to manage your money online.

Why are you changing the Online Banking security password requirements?
At Bank of Washington we are committed to working to keep your information safe, while providing you convenient services like Online Banking and Mobile Banking. With the continued growth of these services, there are increased needs for higher security standards to keep your information well protected. The new password standards will make it even safer for you to monitor and manage your money at your convenience with these services, while also safeguarding yourself against unauthorized access to your accounts.

When will this change take place?
The security upgrade will officially go into effect November 1, 2012. We encourage all customers to change their password to the new requirements before November 1. If your password is not changed by November 1, you will be prompted to do so before utilizing Online Banking.

On November 1, 2012, All passwords will be required to contain:

  1. LOG ON to Online Banking
  2. Click OPTIONS
  3. Find the PASSWORD box
  4. Click EDIT
