There are more banking options than ever these days, but I find that the Bank of Washington is flexible and offers a personal level of service that can't be beat. They have been a big part of Washington for a long time and it shows by their dedication to the community.

I have chosen the Bank of Washington because of their longevity in the banking business and the people. The employees are professional, personable, helpful and knowledgeable. They treat customers as they would wish to be treated. They go about business with integrity, a drive toward excellence and a willingness to roll with the changes in the industry to meet their customer's needs. I feel secure and comfortable knowing they have been in Washington many years and strive to provide the best services possible in an ever changing business and financial environment.

I opened my first savings account with the Bank of Washington on August 29, 1952, and still have that same account which I have been told is one of the oldest existing savings account numbers at the bank. Many of my family members continue to bank with the Bank of Washington as well.

I have been a customer of Bank of Washington since I was a teenager. The bank has always met my personal and business needs which has allowed my business grow and prosper.

As a business owner, I feel that the Bank of Washington is our partner in business. They have always been there to help us grow our companies, and our relationship is built on trust. I also appreciate that they are always on the cutting edge of offering technology products in our community that help us improve our efficiencies.

Robert C. Jones

When my brother and I went into business to purchase J & W Cycles, the Bank of Washington was the only bank willing to take a chance on us. What I like about the bank is the ability to make quick decisions without having to check with someone out of state. The Bank of Washington is truly a hometown bank. The employees are knowledgeable, helpful, and given that most of them have been with the bank for a long time says a lot about the bank and the people who own it. After 38 1/2 years of running one of the Top 100 motorsports dealerships, we retired from a very successful business that Bank of Washington was an integral part of. Bob & Jim Jones.

The Bank of Washington has been my bank of choice since I opened my first savings account with money I earned from babysitting. Many years later I still appreciate the warm, friendly service I’ve grown to expect from an organization that is committed to our community.

As I was growing up, visiting the Bank of Washington to see my grandfather and dad was part of my life. I got to know the employees as a young child, and now I have had the opportunity to work alongside those same employees for many years. I believe one of the strongest reasons to bank with the Bank of Washington is the longevity of our employees. They possess a tremendous amount of years of experience that brings to our customers a breadth of knowledge and expertise that is unprecedented in our community.

Glenn Straatmann

My family has been working with Bank of Washington since before I was born. I continue banking with them because I have never had a reason to want to go elsewhere. Their personal service and involvement in the community are only a couple of the reasons I am still banking with them. The people at Bank of Washington, from top to bottom, care about the well being and success of their customers and the entire community. They are, and have always been, competitive on all aspects of banking.

Andrew Unerstall

Unerstall Construction Company

The Bank of Washington to me is a true "Community Bank". They, and their employees, are actively involved and support numerous civic, community and church events in the Washington area. This is either through the bank's monetary contribution to these events and fundraisers, or through their support and encouragement of their employees to serve on various committees. Since 1877, they have been instrumental in the development and growth of businesses in our community. That commitment has continued with the Bank of Washington expanding their headquarters in Downtown Washington, and their funding of loans to continue to improve and expand our downtown and riverfront. They are a "Community Bank" in partnership with the customers they serve.

Having moved into the community of Washington in 1991, I knew right away that the Bank of Washington would be the place for all my banking needs. Customer service at the Bank of Washington is the equivalent to what is referred to in the industry as "Service with Soul". Providing extraordinary service from the teller line all the way through the loan process, the Bank of Washington has been where I know I can get the service I need. Family owned and where employees are like family, the Bank of Washington is my bank!

I have had so many positive experiences with the Bank of Washington that it is difficult to pick just one. From the branch inside Schnuck's with 7-day-a-week accessibility, to the ability to go directly to a "decision maker" regarding an account or loan, to the staff's uncanny ability to remember who I am and consistently go "above and beyond" on customer service, to the Downtown staff's patience in setting up multiple ebanking accesses for my wife and kids, they truly are big enough to get the job done and small enough to make the banking experience personal. They are an example of what makes Franklin County unique with their "neighbor to neighbor" approach to banking.

Herb Homeyer

I like the spirit of the hometown bank. In our 24 years of business, they have always been competitive while maintaining hometown, community services. They are a leader in being the first to offer cutting edge large bank capabilities (ex. online banking, mobile apps, mobile banking, remote deposit capture) with the one-on-one attention of a small town bank.

Richard W. Hopp

Wiemann-Pues Insurance Agency

The Bank of Washington is not a pretty new building or ATM machines throughout town. The Bank of Washington IS the people who work there everyday that makes the difference. Everyone is professional, willing to help and friendly. When I walk through the door, I feel that I'm in a place that I can trust. A bank that was built on family values that are still in place today. It is those people that give you that sense of trust because of those family values. You know you’re in good hands when you're dealing with family!

What makes me choose the Bank of Washington as my bank? The aptly named “Bank of Washington” is, I think, just that. While other banks come and go “The Bank” (as my kids simply call it) is Washington’s bank. As I was growing up, I was lucky to be acquainted with guys like Ed Maschmann, Steve Lochirco, Elmer Heidmann, Bob Vossbrink, the Eckelkamp family and other Bank leaders. They were successful businessmen and leaders in the community, yet they were always very friendly and approachable, even when I was a child. I have been told that my grandfather did some legal work for the Bank years ago, before L. B. and Bill Eckelkamp got out of law school. Knowing some of the Bank’s history and those who have been involved with it makes me proud to be a bank customer. I also appreciate that the Eckelkamp family has always been very generous to area churches, schools, hospital and numerous other charities. I like doing business with people who care so much about the community. The Bank also provides great service. I like to go inside at the main branch every chance I get for my deposits, withdrawals, etc., rather than use the ATM or online banking. As I enter the building and walk to the teller line I hear “Hi Dave” from at least 4 to 5 people, and they make me feel like I’m one of Bank’s most important customers.

My earliest memories of the Bank of Washington include my mother and father hosting many gatherings at our home for bank customers and employees. There were numerous employee Christmas parties and car dealership celebrations. Many of these same customers are still with the Bank of Washington, and I believe this is because of our employees’ tremendous amount of experience and sincere desire to provide outstanding customer service. Thank you for your confidence in us and we will continue to strive to exceed your banking needs.

My affiliation with the Bank of Washington rests on its being a shining example of a community bank. The stability of dealing with, not only employees, but owners, who are my neighbors, provides an added sense of knowing I will be dealt with in a manner that builds a long-term relationship, and not just one of “doing the deal.” As a C.P.A., I could recount any number of stories where clients that have dealt with the bigger corporate banks have been subject to the whims of changing corporate strategy and found themselves scrambling to establish a new banking relationship at a time when they most needed reliability. That never seems to happen with the Bank of Washington."

Donna Speckhals
The "Banking Experience" is what sets the Bank of Washington apart from all of the other banks out there. It gives me peace of mind knowing that we are in safe, reliable hands with people we know. We feel comfortable picking up the phone and talking to anyone at the bank at any time. They also have a caring attitude about the community and are really concerned about how their actions and procedures affect the people they serve. They have a "hometown" feel with all of the attributes and conveniences of any "big bank" in the market. That's why we bank at the Bank of Washington.
